Ingredients
Scale
- Ice cubes (to fill one tall glass)
- 1.5 tablespoons lavender syrup (store-bought or homemade)
- 0.5 ounce (1 tablespoon) fresh lemon juice
- 8 ounces (1 cup) lemon-lime soda (e.g., Sprite or 7UP)
- 1.5 tablespoons half-and-half or heavy cream
- 1–2 thin lemon slices (for garnish)
- 1 small fresh lavender sprig (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Step 1: Fill a tall serving glass generously with ice cubes, ensuring there's enough room for all ingredients.
- Step 2: Pour the lavender syrup and fresh lemon juice directly into the glass over the ice.
- Step 3: Slowly top the glass with the lemon-lime soda, leaving a small space at the very top for the cream.
- Step 4: Gently pour the half-and-half or heavy cream over the back of a spoon into the drink. This technique helps the cream cascade slowly, creating a beautiful "dirty" cloud effect.
- Step 5: Give the drink a very gentle stir once or twice with a long spoon to subtly combine the flavors without fully mixing the cream.
- Step 6: Garnish with one or two fresh lemon slices on the rim or in the drink, and add a small fresh lavender sprig if desired, then serve immediately.
Notes
- For the freshest taste, store lavender syrup and lemon juice separately in the fridge and combine with soda and cream just before serving.
- This delightful beverage is designed to be enjoyed cold and fresh; reheating is not recommended as it would compromise the texture and effervescence.
- Elevate your next brunch or afternoon tea by serving this bright, floral drink alongside light pastries, fruit tarts, or even delicate shortbread cookies.
- For that perfect "dirty" cascade, pour the half-and-half very slowly over the back of a spoon and remember to give it only a gentle stir to maintain the beautiful layered effect.
