Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Earl Grey tea bags
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, e.g., whole milk, oat milk)
- 2–3 tablespoons cherry syrup (store-bought or homemade)
- 1–2 teaspoons granulated sugar or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla powder (optional, for creaminess)
- Ice (for iced version)
Instructions
- Step 1: Steep the Earl Grey tea. Place the Earl Grey tea bags in a heatproof mug or jar. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over them and steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired strength. Remove and discard the tea bags, allowing the tea to cool slightly if making an iced version.
- Step 2: Prepare the cherry base. In a separate mug or glass, combine the cherry syrup, optional granulated sugar/maple syrup, and vanilla bean paste. Stir well to ensure any added sweetener dissolves completely.
- Step 3: Combine tea and cherry base. Pour the freshly brewed Earl Grey tea into the mug or glass containing the cherry syrup mixture. Stir gently to thoroughly combine the flavors.
- Step 4: Prepare the milk. For a **Hot Latte**, heat the 1 cup of milk in a saucepan over medium heat until steaming, or microwave until hot. For a frothy texture, use a milk frother or whisk vigorously. For an **Iced Latte**, fill a serving glass generously with ice cubes.
- Step 5: Assemble the latte. For a **Hot Latte**, pour the hot, frothed milk into the tea and cherry mixture. Stir gently and serve immediately. For an **Iced Latte**, pour the cold milk over the ice in the serving glass, then gently pour the tea and cherry mixture over the milk. Stir before enjoying.
Notes
- If you prepare the tea and cherry syrup mixture ahead of time, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, then simply add fresh milk when you're ready to enjoy.
- Should you have any leftover hot latte, gently reheat it over low heat on the stovetop or in the microwave, being careful not to boil to preserve its creamy texture.
- Elevate your latte with a simple garnish like a fresh cherry, a delicate dusting of vanilla powder, or even a swirl of whipped cream for an extra special treat.
- Don't be afraid to adjust your Earl Grey steeping time; a shorter steep (3 mins) yields a lighter tea profile, letting the cherry truly sing, while a longer steep (5 mins) offers a more robust tea foundation.
