Sip summer with this vibrant Blueberry Tea Lemonade! Homemade blueberry syrup meets zesty lemon and cool black tea for ultimate refreshment. Full instructions & nutrition details included.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups water (divided)
  • 2 black tea bags (or fruit tea bags)
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 23 lemons)
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Lemon slices and fresh blueberries, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Make Blueberry Syrup. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, and 1 cup water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cook for 5-7 minutes, gently mashing the blueberries with a spoon or fork, until they burst and release their juices. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing the solids to extract all the liquid, then discard the solids and set the blueberry syrup aside to cool completely.
  2. Step 2: Brew the Tea. Bring the remaining 2 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and add the 2 black tea bags. Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes, or according to package directions for desired strength. Remove the tea bags and let the brewed tea cool completely to room temperature.
  3. Step 3: Combine the Lemonade Base. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled blueberry syrup, the cooled brewed tea, and 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice. Stir the mixture well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  4. Step 4: Chill and Serve. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill the blueberry tea lemonade for at least 1-2 hours, or until thoroughly cold. To serve, fill individual glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled lemonade over the ice, and garnish each glass with a fresh lemon slice and a few extra blueberries, if desired.

Notes

  • Keep your refreshing Blueberry Tea Lemonade in an airtight pitcher or sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days to preserve its peak freshness and vibrant flavor.
  • Since this is a cold beverage, there's no reheating needed; simply ensure it's thoroughly chilled before serving, adding extra ice if it warms up, or returning it to the fridge for a quick refresh.
  • Elevate your serving by offering this delightful drink in tall glasses with a few fresh mint leaves and a side of sparkling water, allowing guests to customize their fizz level.
  • For the most intense blueberry flavor and beautiful color, be sure to vigorously mash the cooked berries and press them firmly through the sieve when making the syrup, extracting every bit of deliciousness.
